Illegal Exotic Pet Injures Springfield, Missouri Girl at Wal-Mart



During a routine trip to Wal-Mart, and eight-year-old girl was injured in Springfield, Missouri. The little girl was walking through the Wal-Mart parking lot accompanied by her father when she saw a Macaque Monkey sitting in a parked vehicle. The girl was curious of the monkey so she approached the vehicle and the monkey attacked her.

Another Round of Toys is Recalled by the CPSC



The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, toymaker Battat, Inc., and Heath Canada have issued a recall on a set of toy car keys attached to a car remote. The reason for the recall is the plastic ring, which holds the keys and remote together, can become a choking hazard.

Toddler Killed When Stove Fell on Him, Sparks Awareness Campaign

Deondre Watson, Jr. died July 11, 2010, when the stove fell on him in an incident that is rare, very preventable, and an ongoing problem, which prompted campaigns to raise awareness. Supreme Court to Make Decision on Potential Lawsuits for Mislabeled Medication



The Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., has committed to making a decision about the popular drug Reglan and other manufacturers can be sued for claims of mislabeled side effects of Reglan. According to a report by ABC News, the Supreme Court is ready to consider whether federal law is at least partially responsible for the lawsuit against the drug even after the Food and Drug Administration approved the drug for sale. Most lawsuits are brought against those responsible for Reglan believe that manufacturers did not properly label the container side effects.

The FDA Calls Out Drug Researchers for Faking Documents



On July 26, 2011, the Food and Drug Administration announced that Cetero Research, a drug research company, falsified drug research results in an attempt to manipulate the results. The research manipulation could complicate the already controversial drug Paxil since there is already numerous contradictory studies that debate the drug's efficiency and safety.

FDA Recalls Iodine Wipes Due to Infectious Organism Found in Product



A manufacturer of medical products recalled iodine wipes due to the Federal Drug Administration's concerns that the medication has been infected with an organism called Elizabethkingia meningoseptica, according to the website Examiner.com. The bacterium has caused many very serious infections in humans, which includes pneumonia in patients with respiratory problems, meningitis in infants, and a disease commonly referred to as the flesh-eating disease.

Judge Orders Bayer to Fly German Executives to U.S. for Yasmin Trial



Judge David Herndon, who will be present for all of the Yasmin/Yaz trials filed against Bayer, ordered the company to pay for its German executives to travel to America and to provide depositions for the trial. Bayer has already taken the measure to reduce the amount of documents produced in discovery claiming that the paper weighs up to 200 tones. The company has tried this tactic before on the phone during the meeting in November 2010. But the representatives Joachim Marr, Hartmut Blod, and Ilka Schellschmidt were ordered by Herndon to the United States because Herndon believes, "equities favor the depositions being held in the U.S."
